About Us

Mister McGregor’s Garden is a local family-based business that has been caring for children in the Marquette area since 1979. After 40 years, Mister McGregor’s Garden is recognized as a premier leader in the community for providing children solid foundations for future success. Caring for children from birth-twelve, our focus is on developing the whole child. We provide safe, developmentally appropriate and nurturing environments that promote social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth. Our philosophy of early education is inspired by the developmental-interaction approach, which for us is dually play-based and nature-based. Children are active planners and participants of their earliest education, inspiring them to grow as thinkers, problem solvers and creators.

Our 4-year-old has been at Mister McGregor’s Garden since she was 3 months old and has consistently thrived. The structure, learning opportunities, and warm environment has led to her adapting well to new people and situations as well as develop excellent social skills. It is such a comfort to drop her off each morning and know she will be in the best of care. I love how they take the kids outside as much as weather permits, and she has loved the learning stations that allow kids to use their imaginations and create.

{  The Mister McGregor’s Garden leadership and staff are loving, professional and encourage creativity.  They are sensitive to my daughter's needs, while maintaining age-appropriate behavioral expectations.  I love that the kids go outside every day possible! Michelle H.{

The outdoor space at McGregor’s is phenomenal. A true play-time oasis. It is a great place for learning (and playing!) outdoors.

Our daughter has been loved since 8 weeks old by many of the veteran staff members. Now 4 years old, she continues to grow each day with the guidance of the amazing teachers of Mister McGregor's Garden. They know her and care for her in a way that they just do naturally: through songs, imaginative play, stories, dancing and social and emotional experiences with peers. The routine and dedication to each child is apparent the moment you walk through the doors. They understand the needs of all children and love them in the individual ways that help them thrive.

Absolutely amazing place to give your kids a safe, loving environment while parents need to work. Mister McGregor’s Garden goes beyond just the basics of providing well balanced meals and a kid friendly location; they have loving teachers and an actual curriculum implemented through inside and outside play. From just 6 weeks old to currently 4 years old, my daughter has thrived beyond my expectations. Our ride home is never dull as she gives me a lesson in everything she learned. From the solar system to animal facts to her growing love for nature, she is learning much more than I would have expected a "daycare" to provide. MMG is like a pre-k program that starts from the first day of enrollment, but presents the information to learn in bite size fun ways that every child can understand. From a first time mom with my daughter to a NICU mom with my son, I trust the staff with my all my heart. To them my kids are not just another enrolled child but an addition to their MMG family. Enrolling my son at 6 weeks after being in the NICU I had different concerns than with my first. I was able to bring him in for a pre-visit and talk directly with the head of the nursery to put my mind at ease. With the use of the parents’ app I receive daily reports for each child, including meal and nap times, along with diaper changes and activities for the day. Pictures are sent through the app, as are messages. I can even message asking how my child is doing or request a picture to put my mind at ease. Even the smallest bump from my clumsy son still learning to walk/run will lead to a direct phone call to me during the day just as a heads up and that he's still just as happy. At the end of the day I'm handed a written version of the incident. Honestly the best part of those is seeing it was cared to with "hugs and ice pack". The staff truly do care about the children in their care. From birthday celebrations to seasonal themes and decorations, MMG is considered a second home for my kids. They get the all the love and support they need even during the times I'm not able to. I couldn't ask for a better, loving childcare option.

We have really enjoyed bringing our child to Mister McGregor’s Garden.  He was the youngest in the center when we first brought him, now he's one of the oldest and getting ready for Kindergarten, and every step of the way has been an excellent experience for him.  He has loved each of his providers, made some wonderful friendships, and is excited every day to tell us what fun things he did with his buddies.  The staff have always provided such a welcoming and pleasant environment, and we couldn't be happier with having our son come here.

We have been a part of the Mister McGregor’s Garden (MMG) family since 2017. Our oldest is 10 and we moved to Marquette from out of state, so we have experienced several different childcare centers. MMG has been, by far, our favorite! When our children are young, we just want someone to take good care of them, keep them safe and fed, and hope they are having fun and socializing. MMG goes so far above and beyond these things. The staff are amazing and treat our children like family. They are kind, friendly, energetic, attentive, and comforting. Our barely-five-year-old son comes home every day excited to share new facts with us that he learned at MMG. He is more than ready to start kindergarten in the fall thanks to his wonderful and patient teachers at MMG. They are excellent at communicating what is going on at the center. When our family was new to Marquette, we were so worried about finding good childcare for children. Now we can’t believe how blessed we are to have found MMG!
